Backend
A considerable amount of work has been done on the backend to ensure the necessary performance during periods of high pressure on the websites. This includes database optimization and indexing, a new caching system, the establishment of a separate storage server and droplet for processing data, as well as changing and automatically updating images to webp, and more.
PUBG: All tournament matches are stored as full telemetry files, which both ensures access to historical data and enables us to develop advanced analytics tools (PUBG FACTS).
Information security has also been in focus, and several measures have been implemented in 1.6 to further raise the security level.
What happens next?
We have upgraded to 1.6 in a very short period of time, and it is necessary to monitor the changes that have been made and follow up with bug-fixing as needed.
In addition, partial updates (1.6.1 etc.) will be worked on in the future:
- Mobile friendliness
- Remaining translations
- Individual player statistics upgrade (PUBG)
- PUBG Replay connection to telemetry files from tournament matches (already implemented for the Battle Royale Ladder tournament format).
- New functionality and new games.
Why 1.6?
The board of Esport Arena decided to upgrade the platform to 1.6 in anticipation of 2.0, which will take longer to develop than originally anticipated. If we succeed with the 1.6 upgrade, it will give us time to deliver an adequate 2.0 solution even if it takes longer than originally planned.
