Over the past few months, Esport Arena has taken major steps forward - and there is more to come.
Over the past few months, Esport Arena has taken major steps forward on the technical side. The new platform is now in place, and the foundation has been laid for further growth.
With a modular tournament engine that can be adapted to different games, tournament formats and competitive concepts, we now have a technical foundation that allows Esport Arena to expand far beyond what was previously possible.
Our collaboration with EsportBot has also enabled synchronisation between Discord and the website, allowing players to both manage their teams and register for tournaments directly through Discord.
But technology alone does not build an organisation.
As Esport Arena grows and more games become part of the platform, it becomes increasingly important to establish strong structures around the people who create the activity. Every game has its own community, its own culture and its own needs. At the same time, everyone is part of a larger organisation with shared values, resources and goals.
That is why the next phase of our development is primarily organisational.
We are currently reviewing how Esport Arena should be organised to make it as easy as possible for volunteers to develop activities around the games they are passionate about.
Our goal is not to micromanage individual game communities. Quite the opposite: we want to give them considerable freedom to develop their own competitions, concepts and communities, while also providing access to Esport Arena’s infrastructure, experience and support network.
We are therefore developing clearer guidelines, cooperation agreements and organisational frameworks that will define responsibilities, roles and opportunities.
It should be easy to understand how to bring a game, or an existing gaming community, into Esport Arena — and what you can expect when you do.
Not all gaming communities are the same.
Some consist of a small group of dedicated people who want to build something entirely new. Others may already be well-established communities with their own administrators, tournaments, Discord servers or partners.
For that reason, we do not want to force everyone into a single organisational model.
We are developing several ways of becoming affiliated with Esport Arena, allowing established gaming communities to work with us while retaining their own identity and expertise. Other games may be developed more directly within Esport Arena itself.
What all of these models will have in common are clear expectations, good opportunities for collaboration and a shared set of values.
As more games become part of the platform, new opportunities also emerge.
Many of the challenges involved in running esports activities are the same regardless of the game: recruiting volunteers, communication, streaming, graphic design, sponsorship, tournament administration, rules and regulations, and creating great experiences for players.
This gives us an opportunity to share knowledge, experience and resources across different games.
We therefore want to establish good forums for collaboration between the board and the individual gaming communities, but also between the gaming communities themselves. The goal is for good ideas and solutions developed in one part of the organisation to benefit the organisation
